Outposts Unknown Wiki

World 1: Daegus

Overview

The Tropical Oasis Where Every Captain Starts

Daegus is the first world of Star Trek: Outposts Unknown — a tropical oasis where players who tried the demo have already established their first outpost. The developer's Kourou walkthrough calls it "the very same tropical oasis that captains who played through Outposts Unknown's demo will be very familiar with": it is the tutorial world where the full loop is taught, from landing site to functioning research outpost.

What Daegus Teaches You

Misty alien vista with water and rock spires on Daegus in Star Trek: Outposts Unknown

Official materials frame Daegus as the world where you "see what you'll need to accomplish on one planet" before moving on. The loop it teaches is the game's core: build up one outpost until it can sustain itself — power, water, housing, mess hall, medical cover — then beam back up to the U.S.S. Resonant and head out to establish the next research facility. Nothing here is designed to punish you; it is the classroom for the resource logistics the rest of the system demands.

The World Itself

Daegus presents as a lush, habitable world — green terrain, warm palette, and open plateaus that make placement readable. Official screenshots show landing pads, habitat structures and solar arrays across open ground, with no environmental hazard layer announced. That readability is the point: Daegus lets you learn the systems without fighting the planet at the same time.

Recommended Preparation

Before You Leave for the Next World

The developer's guidance is explicit about the exit checklist: "terrestrial medical facilities, mess halls, housing, and other systems need to be well-supplied when you leave to establish the new research facility on Kourou". In practice that means your Daegus outpost should be self-sufficient — production chains stable, storage not bottlenecking, crew welfare covered — before you commit to the voyage map.

  • Power and water supply covering every production building with headroom
  • Housing, mess hall and medical facility built and supplied
  • Storage capacity with room for the next world's exotic resources
  • Research facility fully staffed with assigned officers

Confirmed Features & Resources

  • First outpost site — your permanent foothold in the X'Lehari system
  • U.S.S. Resonant orbit — ship storage you can request supplies from
  • Tropical open terrain — readable placement, no announced hazard layer

What You Do Here

  • Establishing your first research outpost
  • Learning the resource logistics loop: harvest, refine, combine, transport
  • Developing your crew — task assignment, morale management
  • Preparing the outpost for departure to Kourou

The Demo Path

The Steam demo (available since June 2026) covers the Daegus opening: landing, first structures, crew assignment and the research loop. Progress specifics beyond the demo slice are launch content — this page expands once the full build is out.
